PUR Binding is a premium, stronger version of Perfect binding, suited for booklets that need to have a longer life span - we always recommend this option.
PUR binding involves 'roughing' the spine of the book block enabling the glue to penetrate into the fibres of the paper which ensures a strong, bind with anti-pull out qualities up to 70% better than traditional EVA glue, used in standard booklet Perfect binding.
Case Binding, and Sewn Case Binding has a hard back cover, 2mm to 3mm thick (2000m micron to 3000 micron); we'll advise depending on the size and number of inside pages. Sewn Case Binding is a very premium, top end, professional, printed book product.
Sewn Case Bound books come with standard plain, unprinted, uncoated, white End Papers, (the inside cover and first sheet, inside back cover, last sheet). Printed or coloured end papers are available on request. Note: Case bound books end up being bigger than the text pages, due to the cover overhang.
On Case Bound books, it is the text page size that is considered to be the final finished book size.
The inner text page size is classed as the size of the book so if you request an A4 book, that would be the size for the inner pages. The cover is always slightly bigger.
How much bigger is the cover on a Case Bound book? Usually 6mm taller and 3mm wider. The cover protrudes from the inner pages by approximately 3mm at the top, 3mm on the opening edge and 3mm at the bottom.
Lay Flat Binding - We also offer this amazing method of binding which gives the most remarkable flat spreads through the text. Sitting completely flat when opened and losing nothing in the spine, this allows wide images, that go across a centre spread, to be presented beautifully, with no loss in the middle.
Duplexing the text pages throughout, gives double thickness paper, and allows them to open entirely flat with an almost invisible join across the spine.
This can be a Soft Cover type booklet or fully Cased into a hard cover. It is recommended that all the text pages are laminated (normally matt), to prevent cracking.
FSC® and Carbon Neutral options available on all binding methods. - To be honest, almost all the papers we use are FSC® accredited.
